netgear mr814v2 router and DSL

I had previously connected straight into a (I am running winxp sp2) DSL
modem to access internet without a problem. I added a Netgear mr814v2 router
and now have problems accessing some webs sites (not all). I go back to
original config (w/o router) and everything works fine. Has anyone
encountered this problem and is willing share a fix for this?
