Netbios domainname in AD

P

Patrik Lindholm

Hi!

I have a simple question I think.

Is it possible to have a netbios domainname like DOMAIN-GBG and a FQDN like
domain.se
in a active directory domain?

Thank you in advance.

Yes -- it is legal but uncommon.

I personally think it is a very poor idea -- unless you have an OVERWHELMING
reason for doing this, don't.

Yes. NetBios domain name can be different from DNS domain name. Durring AD
creation specify different names.

Yes, during the dcpromo it will allow you to specify your NetBIOS name. It
does not have to be related to the FQDN.
