I install a Hp printer to a Windows XP Professional and
share it out. I get the other XP to install the HP
laserjet Printer. I then try to us the NET USE command to
get the printer to map to LPT1. I use the following
command: NET USE LPT1: \\ComputerName\SharepritnerName and
it come back with the following:
ComputerName ID required
ComputerName PW required
I have tried every ID and PW from Administrator to
POweruser and they all say the same access denied. How do
I get the Windows XP Professional to stop requesting ID
and PW for the printer.

I will assume you are in a P2P network. You must use the
ID/PW of the system that owns the device you are trying to
access. Network Neighborhood should show you PC's in the
workgroup(make sure your in the same workgroup) you are
accessing and the devices available via sharing. If you
access the icon of the system with the printer, you should
be asked for a ID/PW and that would be the ID/PW of that
system. It works fine here..same setup.
