net use lpt1

S

Stuart May

Hi
I have just upgraded to an xp net work from running NT4.6.
Under NT I was able to run the "net use" command to print
from a Dos based program across the net work whilst any
windows based printing still printed on my local printer.

Now under xp if I run the "net use" command all of my
printing to lpt1 is diverted.

Is there any way I can just Divert the dos based printing
without effecting the windows based stuff?????

Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Stuart.

You can use a Windows utility to print your Dos print jobs, like Printfil.

Kind regards,

Security feature in XP if the user is not an admin they cannot map a
redirected device to a PlugNPlay installed device (LPT1:). User can map
LPT2: or LPT3 as long as there is not hardware actually installed on the
system for other LPT ports.

Hope this is the issue
