NET SEND COMMAND

Hello,

I have a small network at home of 2 PC's and 2 laptops. 1 PC is running XP
home, the others are running XP Pro. My network works fine but i was
wondering does the "Net Send" command still work in XP?

If it does what is the format of the command string?

Thanks for your Help

Go to a command prompt and type in

net send /? <enter>
to see the parameters.

Note that "net send" uses the messenger service - make sure it's enabled on
all computers. I believe SP2 disables it. Also, if the firewall is enabled
in XP, and you haven't set up exceptions, you won't be able to use this.

Hi, thanks for the prompt response but I am still struggling with the format
of the typed message. At command prompt after typing net send /? i get the
following:-

NET SEND
<name : * : /DOMAIN[name] : /USERS> message

If I want to send a message to freddies-laptop on my MSHOME workgroup, and
freddie is logged into his laptop, what would the command line look like?

Sorry for being dumb but this is frustrating the hell outta me!!
