.net & login screen problem

Hello,
Have WindowsXP Home SP2 + up to date security patches. Stand alone single
user unit with 56k connection.
Installed .Net 1.1 + sp1 & .Net 2: reason a program request " Tweak
PhotoStory.msi".
Before .net unit would boot directly to the desktop.
Tried " start - run: typed in "control userpasswors2".
Unchecked box "users must enter username + password to use computer".
This caused all accounts listed to become highlighted, can not pick one.
Is there a fix for this problem?
That is short of uninstalling .Net.
Thank You for your time and knowledge.
take care.

Run control userpasswords2 again.
Put the check mark back.
Click on the account you want to have logged in automatically
so that it's highlighted.
Next, uncheck the box.
Right after you remove the check mark, hit the Apply button.
That will cause the "Automatically Log On" box to pop up.
Make sure the correct account is entered next to User Name.
Note: Don't, repeat don't, leave Administrator entered in the
User Name box.
If you have a password, enter it twice.
Click OK twice.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.

Good luck

Hello,
Thank You for your response.
Followed directions but did not help.
In "Automatically Log On" box shows only my user account, no other accounts
are listed. I click "OK" and reboot.
Tried directions using my " regular startup" and "Safe Mode" boot, both have
the same result.

Have replaced the check mark in order to have "Administrator " login window
in "Safe Mode".

Anything else possible?

Once again Thank You.

Download and install TweakUI.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP

TweakUI Direct Download
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

To run the program go to Start -> All Programs -> Powertoys for
Windows XP -> TweakUI.
Click on the + sign next to Logon.
Click on Autologon.
Enter your user account in the box provided.
Put a check mark in the box at the top.
Hit the Password button if your account has a password.
Click OK.
Reboot to see if it works this time.

Good luck

Hello,
TweakUI created the same problem in "Safe Mode".
I removed the .net user account "frodo suggestion" which seems to have
solved this issue.
After reading the Microsoft article concerning having more then one user
activates the logon screen.
Thank You all.
take care.
