.NET installation always hangs

Using Win2000 with SP4.
I've been trying to install, unsuccessfully, .net framework as well as the
sdk and both hang during installation. I've tried installing version 1.0 as
well as 1.1 with the same problem. I've even left these installs running for
hours just in case it takes an extraordinary amount of time. Have tried to
install from the Windows Update site as well as the download
versions...everything hangs. I've never experienced anything like this on my
pc since other programs always install fairly quickly and with no problems
(Pentium 4 1.5GHZ, 500 RAM).
After a few times trying to install either ver 1.0 or 1.1, it tries to
remove the other "suspended" installation and it hangs on the screen saying:
Stopping services
Service: iisadmin
Time remaining: 29 seconds

I can't find any articles about this in the knowledgebase, so I would
certainly appreciate any help or suggestions.

Finally got it to install. I disabled IISAdmin and rebooted. Then I started
the 1.1 Framework again and worked like a charm.
Not sure why I had to do that since I was able to install it on another PC
with IISAdmin running.
