.net framework (and logon)

Why is .net framework installed if Windows XP Home Edition does not use it? (Ref. previous post regarding logon by John Michael on 2-29-04: "Most likely this is what the issue is, you are using XP Home and you have installed .net framework and since XP Home does not use any IIS ( Internet Information Services) then you may uninstall that from add/remove programs and this will also take away the aspinet user in the user account, reboot the system and this will log on normally from there.")

..NET Framework is installed because you selected it and installed it.
It's not a "critical update". It is a recommended update.
