Nero and vista

I know Nero 7 has an expensive update that will work with vista home edition.
What I'm wondering is will Nero 6 work with vista home edition...has anyone
had an experience with this?

Some people claim success with Nero 6, but it's not officially supported on
Vista.

Take a look at a thread from earlier today "Vista/Nero" and you will see
"Dale" saying he has Nero 6 on Vista.
You might want to add your question to that thread.

I got 6 to do some things, such as burning a few disks. Other options
just didn't work well (capturing video etc..). I upgraded to Nero 7
and it's been working well for me. The upgrade price was like $45 I
think..

I installed the light version of Nero 6 that came with my DVD burner. I use
it for burning CDs, and DVDs and have no problems with it. Some people have
had problems with the SmartStart application; again, I haven't.

The only thing that I see out of the norm is when I start Nero, I get a
warning that it won't run. When I exit, I get a message that it has quit
working - which is, of course, exactly what I told it to do anyway so I
don't really care if it quit abnormally or not.

I am using it on Ultimate, though. I don't know if that will make a
difference. And, in any case, your mileage may very.

It won't install for me, I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

I have Nero 6.6.1.6 (updated from 6.6.1.4 which was updated from 6.6.0.8)
installed and running on Vista Business x64. Ordinary install, ignored the
warnings. Use the main Nero BurningROM bit only. Some bits of the whole
package won't work. :)

Mine won't begin to install, says "This program requires Windows 2000
or XP or later" so I guess I've accidentally reverted to CPM or
something.

I'll see if Nero will install by itself, I tried the full package from
LG.

It installed but no LightScribe? None of the other apps installed,
only Nero.

Upgrade to Nero 7 Premium Reloaded. Versions <= 6 are incompatible with
Vista.

However, Nero Home is not a good substitute for Windows Media Center. I have
yet to get the program to make a collection of all my media and create a
Library. In addition, it is very unstable on my machine.

It does include LightScribe.

Other programs seem to work ok so far, especially Nero Burning ROM.

Yeah you might use the built-in recorder in Vista for burning. And also
try ISO recorder http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/Vista.htm

Reloaded is free if you already own 7 Ultra, but it doesnt work. I have sent
Nero numbers of emails with detailed information at their request. They send
back stupid suggestions, none of which work.

The original 7 Ultra didn't work with Vista. You must download the free
Vista upgrade (199mb). Upon installation you put in your original S/N.
Then it will work. I've been there.

I have downloaded the Vista upgrade and I am afraid that it does not work
with my Vista Ultimate. I have the following problems:-

1. No desktop or Quick launch folders are produced.
2. Windows Control Panel disappears.
3. Vista runs very, very slowly and eventually crashes.

I too have reported this to Nero but nothing helpful has resulted so I have
uninstalled Nero.

Nothing is free for me because my Nero is the version that came with my
DVD writer.

I'd think about the new version but April 16th is coming and I think I
might be making a generous contribution to my Uncle Sam instead of
buying software.... <sigh>

Now if only that nice Colonel Whosis in Nigeria will hurry and get me
my 25% of his $120,000,000.00 US I'm helping him get out of his
country....... ;-)

Been there, done that. I have downloaded the free upgrade, entered my
original S/N and it still does not work. I have used Neros two different
cleaning tools and downloaded again. I am at the sixth try now. Nero still
says "One of the applications components could not be loaded, please
reinstall the application. How many more times will I have to reinstall
before it works?

Oh David,
Colonel Whosis will be so grateful. Let me know when you receive your 25%.
Then I will help him get out of his country too!!!
