What version of nero?
Is there any AV or Firewall installed?

What I usually do is to disconnect from internet and run a
"stripped down boot" from msconfig. Just remove the checks
by the startup items (except nerocheck), as well as any
Utility/security software from services tab. [apply] [ok]
and restart. Then try running nero and see if it hangs.
