Neither IE6 nor IE7 Beta will display web pages

After using some system optimizing tools, IE6 will open a window frame, but
won't load any web pages. The progress bar indicates "loading" but the page
never displays. I installed the IE7 beta in hopes that would fix the problem
but to no avail. My Firefox browser works fine, but I need IE functionality
for Windows updates and certain sites. Any ideas what may have happened?
