I'm using the following custom format to abbreviate my currency figures

[>999999]$#.00,," M";[>999]$#," K";# `

How can I modify this to highlight negative values in red and put them in parenthesis ('s ?

So i think i got it figured out. I cannot use the abbreviated formatting for all six stages of value (positive M, K and # and negative M, K and #) so i'll have to use conditional formatting to switch from the above positive formatting and the below negative formatting i figured out. If i am wrong and there is a way to combine the two please let me know. Thanks!

negaitve abbreviated formatting:
[Red][>-999]($###);[Red][>-999999]($#," K");[Red]($#.00,," M")
