Pauly

Hi ... I could really use your opinion to understand
something here with a program that I download , I when to
this website http://www.soft-central.net/ , And I
download these 2 freeware programs ( Pyramid Solitaire ,
Golf Solitaire ) Now I did a scan with Spybot Search &
Destroy , Spybot found this soft central as SC Keylog ,
Should I be concern as to what spybot found ?? Are these
2 programs keylogger ?? Soft-Central is a site to protect
against keylogger and yet spybot found them to be as
one , What should I do ? Thanks

Pauly, are you that naieve ?

You don't *ever* download free games.
There is no such thing as free software unless it comes from a reputable location. For
example Adobe Acrobat Reader obtained from Adobe. But you don't download Adobe Acrobat
Reader posted on another, non Adobe, web site. If you do go to places and just download
sh!t you are saying -- please infect me !

I would be *very* concerned that those games are malware !

Now do the following....

1) Download the following three items...

Trend Sysclean Package
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp

Latest Trend Pattern File.
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern.asp

Adaware SE (free personal version v1.05)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Create a directory.
On drive "C:\"
(e.g., "c:\New Folder")
or the desktop
(e.g., "C:\Documents and Settings\lipman\Desktop\New Folder")

Download Sysclean.com and place it in that directory.
Download the Trend Pattern File by obtaining the ZIP file.
For example; lpt408.zip

Extract the contents of the ZIP file and place the contents in the same directory as
sysclean.com.

2) Update Adaware with the latest definitions.
3) Disable System Restore
http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm
4) Reboot your PC into Safe Mode and shutdown as many applications as possible
5) Using both the Trend Sysclean utility and Adaware, perform a Full Scan of your
platform and clean/delete any infectors/parasites found.
(a few cycles may be needed)
6) Restart your PC and perform a "final" Full Scan of your platform using both the
Trend Sysclean utility and Adaware
7) Re-enable System Restore and re-apply any System Restore preferences,
(e.g. HD space to use suggested 400 ~ 600MB),
8) Reboot your PC.
9) Create a new Restore point

* * * Please report your results ! * * *

Hi . No David I'm not that naïve . What I have running on
my computer are the following , ad aware pro , spybot
S/D , Microsoft antispyware , CWShredder , Spyblaster ,
Spywarestopper, spyblocker , MRU-Blaster , sygate pro and
NOD32 . I have done scan in both modes ( safe and
normal ) With the following , Mcafee stinger and Trend
Sysclean Package with the latest Trend pattern file and
all these of above, System restore on and off as well ,
deleted all temps files and With all the scans that I
have done my system came back as being clean , except for
the fact what spybot found . My system never wasn't
giving me any problems , It just when I ran spybot it
found these entries from soft-central whom they are the
makers of a commercial keylogger , As their site states ,
they are in the business to protect against keylogger
programs , I would find it strange for a company that's
in the business to protect against keylogger that soft-
central would actually be one , I'm thinking that its
possible that Spybot recognizing the two programs as I
mentioned as keyloggers due to them being made by the
same company that maker of SC-Keylog. It may just be a
false positive , Now if it is false positive ? Who should
I try to info them the SC-keylog company or spybot S/D ??
Thanks

The only way to be sure it is a false positive is to test it against several anti virus
applications.

Please submit the file purported to have the SC-Keylogger to Virus Total --
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
The submission will then be tested against several different AV vendor's scanners.

Another way to submit is to send the suspect file to the following email address
scan<at>virustotal.com
{ replace <at> with @ } with only the word SCAN as the subject.

Please post back the EXACT results.

All right, you may not be naive but, if you practiced Safe Hex you wouldn't need all that
software nor be in the predicament you are in now.

Hi,

I am the author of Pyramid Solitare, Golf Solitaire and SC-KeyLog. The
detection of Pyramid Solitaire and Golf Solitaire is a false positive. The
card games are detected because they use the same base installation folder as
an old version of SC-KeyLog.

You are correct, we also offer a commercial keylogger. However, we do not
protect against keyloggers, our site does not claims that we protect against
it.

Al freeware programs of Soft-Central are totally free: They contain no
spyware, ads or other unwanted 'features'.

This is a quote from Alexander

Oh ok then I misread , I am sorry for that , So is there
a way to correct this finding from spybot that picks up
these entries ?? Should one info spybot ?? Or does it
matter , Thanks ...

PS: I'm glad I got the right person here to chat about
it , I also sent you a email about this matter ...

BTW ... I really did enjoy playing these FREE games ,
they are really fun , Though I did uninstall them
because of the finding , I hope this matter can be
resolved , I mean I don't want spybot to finds these
entries everytime I ran a scan ...

Thank You Alexander ! For sending a email to me , Telling me more detail as
were you now have correct this tiny problem and reassuring that your games
will no longer be detected by spybot , I will also post your email in the
other forum sites just to clear up the problem , because there are a few
other people that are waiting to hear the result , Thanks

PS: David if you happen to still be following this and you like playing card
games , I would recommend you try out Alexander "free" games

Yes I read the thread I and don't play computer games. I use computers strictly for
business processes.
Thanx anyway ;-)

Hi ... RoadRunner it still doesn't appear to be true , I
just redownload the games and spybot still recognize
them , Maybe Alexander can reassure us all that he has
modify these programs and they will no longer be detected

It may be posible that Alexander's site was hacked and the posted files were modified.

Please submit the identified files to Virus Total --

It seem that Alexander did fix the problem because I just
done a update to spybot which there were some update
available and I scan my system twice with a clean sytem
now , no finding of Soft-Central games , Thanks
Alexander !
