Need to map keys on Sidewinder Precision Pro under Windows XP

I need the ability to map keys to the buttons on my Microsoft Precision Pro joystick.
I am running Windows XP Pro and only have the Sidewinder 3.02 software CD.
(I have had the joystick for several years now, and 3.02 was delivered with it).

My understanding is that the Sidewinder 3.02 software is not compatible with Windows XP.
I cannot find any upgrades for the Sidewinder software available for download.

So am I basically being penalized by Microsoft for using their latest operating system?
I don't like the thought of loosing functionality by migrating to the latest operating system.

Hi MarkB,

We all complained about BSOD's and one of the improvements
that they made to limit them also removed the keymapping ability
of the 3.02 software. The stick works, but the game itself would
have to provide the keymapping abilities now. That's progress..
