This is the first time I have ever built a computer. I bought and
installed a Biostar N4SLI-A9 motherboard with the AMD athlon 64 and the
Radeon 9250 256mb PCI video upgrade card. I have a Maxtor DiamondMax
SATA hard drive and 2- 512MB Memory cards. I also put in 1 cd drive and
1 cdrw and 1 3.5 floppy drive. After programing my bios I went to
restart the computer and it takes me to a screen with hardware monitor,
then after specs it says verifying DMI Pool Data.... next it tells me
NTLDR is missing press CTRL+Alt+Del to restart. Does anyone know what
"NTLDR" is that apparently is missing? what am I doing wrong? I
appreciate any input on this. Thank Ohhh Sooo Much!!!

This is a common windows error message. Google is your friend, but if you
are allergic to Google, try this:

NTLDR is a very important file which is one of the startup files for xp.
Did you do a clean install of xp? If not, I suggest you do so.

I have not done anything more then set the bios. What do I do next?

Put your Windows XP disk in the CD Rom.

The computer will boot from the XP CD.

Do you have the data saved on the drive (it sounds like the drive has
been used before if NTLDR is missing).

Follow the prompts and install XP.

Change the boot sequence in the BIOS so that the CD player is first,
boot from the XP disc, format and reinstall. If you have got stuff on
the drive that you want you could try a repair install first to see if
it works.

Sounds like you've successfully put the computer together but now have to
install the OS. I hope you have backed up the data on this old hard drive
that you are using because you may have to wipe it to get XP cleanly
installed, which is the way you should be doing it. If not you may want to
return the drtive to the old computer and start backing up everything that
you want saved.
