Need some help to boot Win Xpe from a CF

Gnurto

Hello,

My situation is like this : I'm trying to install Win XPe on a
PCM-9579 from a CF. I managed to make the CF boot sector to redirect to
the NTLDR file, I created a Win XPe image with Target Designer
importing a PQM file generated from tap.exe executed in a Win XP
environment on the board I work on, and with "NT Loader" and "FAT"
components added into it. I copied the Image files into the CF and
manage to make the PCM-9579 boot WinXPe... At least... The beginning...
The Win XPe loading screen is displayed and then the First Boot Agent
is initializing, and then... The next screen is a fatal-error telling
me that Windows Logon Process system terminated when finding itself in
some state...

Target Designer detect some error in the Dependances Checker,
something about "Regional and Language options" and 'Session Manager
(Windows subsytem)" component missing each of them at least one
component not added in the configuration.

By the way, my CF is not in fixe mode, i didn't manage to make it
idendity itself as a fixe disk with ATCFWCHG.COM ( some "error#20"
error message...). I read in some Microsoft document that EWF works
better when the CF is in fixe mode, but nothing about Win XPe needing
the CF to be in fixe mode... Does it really matter to make Win XPe work
properly?

Well, if someone can tell me if I forgot to add some basic
components, or if WinXPe really need a fixe mode CF or anything else
that can help me to make a Win XPe on CF boot properly, it would really
help me.

Thanks

Hello Gnurto,
click in Target Designer on the "Task" register and execute each listet
Task. For example:
Double Click the Task "Session Manager.." and select one of the listet
Components.
At least you have to rebuild your runtime.

regards,

flo
