Need http:// in address bar

Recently, when I type a URL into the address bar, it won't even try to look
for it unless I put the http:// in the front.

Type www.google.com and hit enter, nothing happens. Hit go, nothing happens.

Type http://www.google.com and hit enter, and it goes right there.

Is there some way I can reset this so it works normally?
