I purchase a Intel P4/478 Retainer/backplate Metal coated with non conductive
paint (screenshot link below) but the new metal retainer will not work with
the original backplate that was included in my hp/asus motherboard socket
478 plastic retainer. the problem is that the backplate that was included in
my new intel p4/478 metal retainer does not include some kind of protection
this is the reason i want to use the orignal backplate. The orignal backplate
has some kind of protection on the metal. Is it safe to use the new backplate
without shorting the motherboard since it's coated with non conductive paint
or do i need to purchase the protective to put in the backplate and where do
i purchase those protections to put in the backplate?

GT,

If I needed a backing material, I'd just fashion one out of plastic or even
cardboard.

is it completely safe to do that? I have plenty of thin plastic (antec
tricool fan plastic covers) will this do it? any idea where i can purchase
those backing materials can't seem to find one.
