I can't find any help anywhere that shows me how to create custom sales
stages for my business in BCM. How do I do it? The funnels is useless without
the proper sales stages.

The issue is customizable fields in the Sales Stage dialog box in the
Opportunity form.

This has been addressed in BCM V3, part of Office 2007. You can test it at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview

Before you do that, make a backup of all your BCM data.

Clarke,

Your posted comments strike a poignant chord for me as a former BCM user.
(Attempted user)

For the past year I have been admonished by some in this newsgroup for
stating rather diplomatically that BCM was extremely and needlessly "limited.
" For the sake of politeness I always refrained from using such a word as
"useless" to describe BCM though in truth your word is much more accurate.
The so called new "solution" to the non-customized sales stage fields in BCM
remains in beta and will not be released as a finished version until near the
end of this year.

This next anticipated BCM release which corrects this feature limitation will
have taken a full 3+ years! I guess it takes design committees that are
isolated from the real world of Business Contacts and Sales a few years to
determine whether or not to correct something so obviously overlooked so that
it is no longer useless. If my comments seem harsh I would ask readers to
reflect on that which is truly harsh. The ever too slow evolution of BCM
into a more viable application has been harsh.
