NEED HELP: Start Menu Missing on Windows XP Pro

Hello Guys.

It happened that I was changing my desktop settings the usual way when
suddenly the START MENU disappeared. Kept pressing the Start Menu button on
my keyboard but nothing happens. I checked if the PC hung up but the NumLock
seems fine. I restarted the PC several times but the START MENU won't come
out. When I open several windows I can switch to every window open by using
the ALT+TAB function. Still, no START MENU to be seen.

I was thinking if there is a .exe file within Windows folder that I can open
to bring the START MENU back or any option button that i can click to
activate any options pertaining to the START MENU.

Hope you guys could shed light to this case.

Many Thanks.

Hi jhong,

To make the Start Menu and Taskbar re-appear you:
1: Open the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc).
2: Find and mark the process "explorer.exe" and press the "End task" button.
3: In Task Manager you now select the tab "Applications".
4: Press "New task" and type "explorer.exe".
