NEED help removing a virus

It seems that I have a virus within Telnet.exe but my
virus software tells me I can't remove this file because
it is important for the OS to work properly. It says
that I can delete it and reinstall, but I don't know what
to do. Any suggestions? Thank you.

How do you know Telnet has a virus in it? (seems a little strange), also if
you do have a virus on your system which one?
