need help programming parallel port

I downloaded a driver, inpout32.dll, so I could talk to the parallel
port. My simple program wouldn't work at first, but suddenly did, for
one day. Then, no more. The program and LEDs work ok on my 98SE
machine ok. Any ideas why it worked, now doesn't? I don't think it's
my program or LEDs, what could XP be doing?

Not sure.
Make sure the BIOS is set to a mode that is compatible
with inpout32. (SPP/EPP/ECP) ECP is the norm. Maybe
inpout32 wants "Bi-directional" set in BIOS?.

Yeah, I checked those. Seems ok. Thing is: it didn't work, then it
did, next time I started computer, won't work again. I didnt do
anything I can think of.
