Yesterday my computer popped up a blue screen and shut down then restarted.
In that one it said IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
It's done it twice today and the error message is STOP: 0x0000008E
What's making it do this? How do I fix it? I've not downloaded anything,
not changed any hardware etc... nothing like that. I hope someone can help!
Thanks! :)

Hello,

Have you obtained and installed the latest service pack for Windows
XP?

Please include entire error in posting. I know it's a pain to write
all the numbers down but it could be of some use.

Thanks.

Brian

Hi Brian,
Thank you for your willingness to help. :) SP1 has been installed for a
long time. I installed SP2 when it came out... but it created problems with
eBay so I removed it not long after. Here's the full error message:

Stop: 0x0000008E

Hello,

Your problem is too difficult for me to resolve using "newsgroups".

Please contact your vendor or Microsoft
(http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?ln=en-us&c1=509&prid=3518&gprid=185522)
for help.

The information below is not meant to fix your particular problem.
Instead the links represent other avenues to follow to learn more.

1. Please visit
"http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d..._12795dee-19a9-4461-a135-bbb882b81455.xml.asp"
for more guidance.

That site contains 2 of your error codes,
You wrote "STOP: 0x0000008E". On the msdn.microsoft website it seems
that it refers
to "Bug Check 0x8E: KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". [note: this is
true as long as 0x0000008E = 0x8E]

You also wrote "0xC0000005". On the msdn.microsoft website it seems
to refer to
"# 0xC0000005: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION A memory access violation
occurred."

2. Read "http://www.tweaksforgeeks.com/IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.html"
for further information.

Good luck,

Thanks Brian... I appreciate what you could help me with and the links. :)
