need help in connecting two laptops

hello everyone,

i learning about networking and i have internet through cable which is
attached to router. and i have laptop1( i have 2 laptops one of it is
my friends) that is connected to the internet through wireless.

now my problem is to connect my laptop2 to the internet using the
laptop1 with a ethernet cable. i have tried suing the ICS that windows
xp provides, but i dont know where i am doing the mistake. so is there
any one that can help to learn networking better so that one day i can
help some one else as the same way you did to me.

To connect the two laptops directly you will need a cross over cable.
Chances are that you have a straight thru cable (standard patch cable).
You can do one of the following. Purchase a cross over cable, Purchase
a switch and another straight thru cable, or use the straight thru
cable that you have.
