Need graphic to stretch the width of a cell

Guest

I want to embed a graphic as a background picture of a cell but since the
grpahic is not the same size as the cell it tiles. How can I have the
graphic stretch to fill the size of the cell.

Thanks

The easiest way is to resize the graphic to the size of the cell using a
image editing program. Then re-import it into your site

How do you know the size of the cell?

The real answer is that you just cannot do this.

You can't. There's nothing in HTML or CSS that will enable an image to
stretch as a function of the width of another item, such as a table cell.
Images need to be fixed sizes in terms of pixels.

Actually, it doesn't. Those are not stretching images. They are tiling
images. There's a big difference in an image that repeats to fill its
available space, and one that stretches to fill the available space. The
former is the default behavior. The latter is a fib.

On careful look, I see that there are neither stretching nor tiling images
there. There are static corner images, and stretching table cells with
colored background....
