Need Dual Boot

J

Jack Black

I have just bought a new computer running XP on C: Drive and I had my
old compuers Hard Drive ( running WinMe ) installed as a slave. My
old C: Drive containg Program Files is now H: Drive on this new
computer.

I have just found out that a few of my old Freeware programs are no
longer Free if the operating system is upgraded to XP. I assume that
if I could set my computer to run both XP and WinMe I would be able to
access these Programs.

Is their a site on the net that explains (in a simple fashion )
exactly what I need to do to re install WinMe while still keeping XP
as my main OS?

Thanks

Hi,

Unless C is using FAT32 (doubtful), then you will need a boot manager to run
WinME in the current state. Even if it is, and you add it to boot.ini, you
may still need to reinstall WinME as it is no longer going to see itself in
the correct location.

A simpler solution in your case might be a boot manager that can load and
run either system and allow it to see itself as the only one (and retain its
"C" designation). BootIT NG from terabyteunlimited.com can do this for you,
as can some other boot managers.
