Need Drastic Help

Howdy all,

I think I've got a virus/mal ware of some decscription. It affects the
..LNK and .exe files. Plus when XP starts up and selects which user I
want it comes up with a dialouge box with 2 squares in it and for me to
click ok. I've scanned through Panda, AVG, F-Prot (Dos and Windows),
gone to the microsoft page and downloaded their malware scanner and
still nothing has come up. I'm all out of idea's and really really out
of patenice with my machine. Is there anyone out there that could give
me a few new ideas ?

Have you tried retoring your machine to a date previous to the one when
the computer started acting up?

You haven't described anything. You sdaid...
"It affects the .LNK and .exe files." OK, how ?

I've tried restore, but I keep on getting registry breaches from my
panada anti virus. The .lnk files and .exe files keep on dis-associate
them selves leaving me with no working apps unless I manually start
then (going in to the stored file and double clicking the .exes)

How long have you had your hard drive?
Sounds like that may be the problem.
