Need directions with DHCP and 2 subnets

Fran

I can't seem to understand this (forgive my thick head, please)

DomainA is on subnet 192.168.20.0 , is a windows 2003 server and is
the DHCP server

DomainB is for sales and marketing, on subnet 192.168.30.0.

The subnets have separate switches and a single router to isolate
groups. I would like to use DHCP for both subnets and I read some
postings here that it can be done (is this a "superscope"?)

Anyway, I cannot seem to understand how to get this to work. How do I
tell the DHCP server to issue addresses to the .30 subnet AND the .20
subnet?

Links or text directions are adored! Thanks for any insite...

No it is not Superscopes. Superscopes are just the opposite and have nothing
to do with this.

It is extremely easy, there are only two steps.

1. Create a normal regular Scope on the DHCP Server,..one for each subnet.

2. Configure the Router forward the DHCP Queries from the hosts on the
other subnet over to the DHCP Server. Some routers forward the queries to
the target subnet where the DHCP is,..some forward them directly to the
DHCP,...some can do it either way you choose.

That's it. You are done. The router includes the information in the relayed
request that the DHCP Server needs to know what subnet the request came
from. The DHCP Server is smart enough to know what to do with it.
