I need desperate help here folks

I have a 5 PC, one laptop wired/wireless network in my house. the network
has been up and running perfectly for a while now with no problems at all.
I was using an XP Pro machine as a file and print sever but decided to
install the Administrator Tools from a Server 2000 CD to the Pentium 3 PC
that had Windows 2000 on it and nothing else, I am using it as a partitioned
server. I installed my Lexmark X73 printer to the server and printed from
it just fine. I then set all of my user access rights for the server and
tested the access on each family member in the house, all can
be accessed the same way the XP server was allowing them access to the files
.. The problem comes when I try to print from my XP PC's to my Win 2000
server. I connected to the server from each XP PC, and installed the
Lexmark over the network to each XP PC. When I begin to print and it looks
like it's going, I go over to the printer and there is nothing, I walk over
to the server and I see a message on the server that reads, " Error Unable
to open application" and I get bunch of numbers or something like that.
Once I click on the error and close it, I double click on the printer icon
on the system tray, and the printer starts printing.

I wanted to place the XP drivers for the Lexmark on the W2K server PC, but
I have no idea on how to get them in there. I figured if the XP drivers were
there, the drivers would be uploaded to the XP PC's that are requesting to
share the networked printer when installed.

The printer is a USB Lexmark X73 plugged into the USB port of the Dell
Optiplex GX240 20 GB server. All the other PC are Pentium 4 with 512 ram.
The network is using a Netgear MR814 wired/wireless router using DHCP. I
can't figure what would prevent the communication.

HELP HELP !! Any help would be grateful,

Daniels

Either install the drivers directly to the XP PC's and point to the
shared printer, or on the Server, go to the printer's properties page,
choose Advanced and Add New Driver. By the way, the W2K driver or the
XP driver *should* work fine for both operating systems.
