NDIS.sys error (BSoD)

I

infonaut

Whilst downloading files via P2P client WinMX my system
crashes into blue screen with following message ...

*** STOP: 0x0000007E

*** NDIS.sys - Address F752DE9A base at F752A000

This occurs only whilst downloading streaming data, not
during general web browsing or e-mail. My WinXP SP2 is
up to date with latest patches, and i am not experiencing
any other problems. My internet connection is a
permanently on ADSL line with a static IP address. I
only have one machine accessing net through this
connection.

I did install (and later unistall) one of those adsl
speed optimising applications recently, and i believe
this may be the cause as i understand that these alter
the network registry settings.

Can anyone offer any help (please feel free to e-mail me
for further info)
