Navigation Bar STILL Missing

T

Tracey

Ref my post on 1 March, thanks for your help, but when I
checked, viewing of hidden files/folders was already
enabled. Just to be sure I opened each page in my site
and individually re-applied this view and then re-saved
and shut down. I have tried to upload via copying from
the HDD direct to the FTP; also using FP's web publish
and using Internet Explorer - Web Publishing Wizard all
to no avail - the left side navigation/menu (all the
links to other pages in the site) bar is still missing.
I am using Win XP Pro & MSOffice XP Pro with FP 2002.
The web address is
www.myweb.absamail.co.za/chananie/index.htm. There was a
technical prolem with the FTP which has now been sorted
out, as prior to tonight I was unable to even log on to
the FTP. Is there anything bar re-creating the site that
you can think of.

The FTP site address is ftp://ftp.absamail.co.za and then
I get a window for my user name and password. Once I
have successfully signed in, then my folder (chananie) is
visible on the site and that is when I double click to
open the folder and then copy across from my hard drive.
This has been working for the past year and only since
Sunday has the nav bar refused to show whilst online. I
attempted to upload last night but received so many error
messages that I knew when I went to view the site it
would not be there. I have sent an email to my isp who
hopefully will have sorted out the access problem today.
Will try to upload tonight and if the nav bar is still
missing will post another message to this newsgroup.
Thanks for your help anyway.

Certain features of the navigation bar requires the site to be hosted on a
server with the FP extensions, and that it is published to the server via
FP's http mode. What changes did you make to the nav bar right before this
problem started?

Hi there, thanks for the reply. Last Sunday I updated
the site in FP by copying and pasting July 2003 page into
June 2003 and then re-naming the old July page to 280204
and then pasting new images, typing in the information
and then renaming the page in both nav view & folder
list. I have been doing this for a year now, the same
thing every month - some months I have to create new
pages and others like this one I combine 2 pages and use
the old one for the new month. ISP have finally managed
to clear the tech faults with the ftp not giving me
access, so I have loaded the site tonight (by opening the
folder on the hard drive, edit, select all, right mouse
click and drag onto the task bar and into the folder on
the ftp) and once again - no nav bar/menu (buttons) down
the left side. I also have MS FP Server Extensions 2002
loaded on my hard drive - downloaded from MS site. I am
now totally clueless. The site address is
http://myweb.absamail.co.za/chananie/index.htm and if you
go to the bottom of the home page you will see all the
pages whose buttons are missing. The ftp is
ftp://ftp.absamail.co.za.

Tracey,
All the navigation images *are* displaying, but the width and height are set
to 0, as in
<img src="_derived/home_cmp_nature010_vbtn_p.gif" width="0" height="0"
border="0" alt="Home" name="MSFPnav1">
I have never seen this before in a FrontPage theme, and have no idea as to
how to fix it, except by modifying the code in Notepad - not a task I would
like to do.
