I have windows XP and I recently installed then uninstalled Norton Antivirus
2004 Pro. All of my applications wont work by double
clicking, I have to right click and run as then untick
protect my computer... (which I asume was left by NAV)
which works ok. When I double click anything an error
message comes up saying e.g. 'Windows cannot
find 'F;\Program Files\Real\RealOne Player\realplay.exe'.
Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try
again.'' I have tried system restore but error message
appears 'Program not found. Windows cannot find
eikzx.exe. This program is needed for opening files of
type 'Registration Entries'' Plus my recycle bin is still
stuck with Norton Protected.
Does anyone know whats going on.

A few years ago I stopped using Norton AV precisely because of this issue.
It can be a pig to remove.

Well, the way I got rid of it in the end was to completely reinstall Windows
after reformatting my hard disk! I guess this would be a last resort!

Do you have your system restore turned on? if so run the restore date a few
days prior to installing the nav.

No, I don't have XP or that version of NAV.

....but I would try restoring the registry to a date prior to the
NAV installation. In Win98 I could still go to DOS and type
"scanreg /restore" to obtain a list of possible restore dates.

Maybe someone could post with how this is done in XP's
control console (if indeed it is still possible).
