Mysterious: Something Turns Defender Off Unexpectedly on My PC

S

Steve in GA

Twice recently I have found that Defender was turned off when I attempted to
run a manual scan. The manual scans did not reveal any spyware, but
something, perhaps one of the spyware bad guys, seems to have found a way to
turn Defender off.
Does anyone have any information on this, or a way to prevent it from
happening again?

Thanks,
Steve

Hello Steve,

No one program never catches & removes everything because there are
millions of possible infections.

Run both programs. (BMAM) and (SAS)

Some very good antimalware applications are SUPERAntiSpyware and
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

SUPERAntiSpyware (SAS)
There is a free version (on demand only scan), the version
Paid includes active surveillance, similar to Windows Defender:

MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (BMAM) Same as above.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Good luck

Some anti-virus applications/security suites will turn off Defender to
prevent clashes.
