mysterious crashes

I'm appealing for help as I'm baffled,Everything was fine with PC (i'd
recently had it upgraded and everything was A1) until I downloaded media
player 10 from microsoft site and got the greek version, after a lot of
messing about I resolved it by uninstalling and redownloading from computer
shopper site. Then a week later the greek came back and the list on the left
(now playing etc) appeared twice! Then when using the bliss (clouds)
visualisation it kept crashing (total restart) sometimes the error report
said device driver, video card (nvidia) and even to get sp2 which I already
have! I'm now back on media player 9 but the problem persists. However of 4
users on this comp I'm the only one affected?I've started using an external
HD for music files could this have something to do with it?

I'm running AVG free edition, Spyware blaster,Adaware and Spybot (all updated
and run twice weekly). Forgot to mention also now crashes without media
player on if enough other programs open.Very unpredictable.

Typical signs of a virus or spyware. The infection is taking up so much
memory that your system eventually crashes.

Thanks,I've just run all my protection. 1st Spybot found 5 DSO exploit
entries, Adaware then found 39 critical problems(all tracking cookies) but
AVG flashed up 4 virus warning windows for trojans and java while adaware was
running. It said run AVG asap which then found nothing! any suggestions?

Your computer was seriously compromised. It's unlikely that your software
was able to completely clean your computer in that condition.
