My purchased Music in iTunes wont play

So far Vista is running great! One issue I am seeing in iTunes and Vista RC1
is that my purchased music wont play. It asks me for my password then says I
have authorized X computers out of 5, but still wont play. It keeps prompting
me for my password again and again.

Any thoughts would help...

Do you have 5 computers authorized? If you do,
then you need to deauthorize one of them first.

Did you do an upgrade install? A clean install?
An install on a separate partition? If you no longer
have that OS that you received authorization on-
you are going to have to call Apple.

I did do an UPGRADE from XP. I now only have 3 computers authorized out of a
maximum of 5 PC's.

The exact same thing is happening to me. I keep getting asked for my
password over and over again.

I am afraid to reinstall iTunes, I hear iTunes 7 won't install. Does
anybody know if it does?

Remember, Vista is still in the testing stage and I am sure Microsoft
would appreciate the feedback. BTW, what is the best way to give
Microsoft feedback on Windows Vista?

I've got 7 installed and it seems ok. I have not tested to destruction but
the install was painless.

Sounds like your Vista install is looking like a new computer to I tunes.
You have to deauthorize one of your other computers or email I tunes and
tell them you forgot to deauthorize before you upgraded your box. 5 times is
the limit.

I ONLY have 3 PC's authorized, not 5. and it just keeps asking me for my
password over and over when it should have just asked once then let my music
play.

I had the exact same problem, here is what I did to fix it.

Turn off User Account Control in the Windows Security Center, then reinstall
iTunes 7 (just do a repair, don't uninstall). I then had to authorize it
again, but this time it took, and I am able to access all of the songs.

Hope this helps.

Hey thanks for the information. Actually, I did get it to work a different
way. I went in and choose to run iTunes in a compatibility mode. When it ran
for the firs time the glass look was turned off but I was able to play my
music. Then when I closed iTunes windows went back to the full glass effects
again. I actually went back in to seetings and unclicked the compatibility
mode and ran iTunes normally and all was still good. Not sure why it worked
when I went back to normal mode, but dont really care.

Thanks all :)
