My pst file is missing. How do I restore it?

Outlook began giving me an error message (0x80040600) when I tried to send or
receive emails. I tried to check for problems through my pst files - but the
system can't find any of these files. And yet when my wife logs herself in
her pst files are fine. Any ideas gratefully accepted.

Have you looked in the right (hidden) folders? You can find the location
through Control Panel-> Mail-> Data Files...

Otherwise; restore from backup.

Hi Roady

Thanks for that. Nothing in the Hidden files. I've tries system restore and
that doesn't work either. I've got all my old emails and contacts but can't
get anything new in or out. Do you know if it's possible to download scanpst
filesa/

Thanks

Arthur

System restore doesn't restore data but only a state of installation and
configuration. A pst-file is considered data just like Word documents.

So you actually do still have your pst-file? In that case you indeed should
run scanpst.exe against itwhich is already on your computer. Where depends
on the version of Outlook you are using but search shoul bring it up.
Another method is to use OutlookTools (free) which locates scanpst.exe for
you;

If your pst-file is close to 2GB use this tool instead;
