My Pictures Screen Saver

T

Teri Poe

I copied over a hundred photographs from my home computer
to use the My Pictures Screen Saver at work. At home the
operating system is Windows Me (which contains the "My
Pictures Screen Saver" option), at work it is Windows
2000. The options in the control panel, display, screen
saver dialog box does not have "My Pictures Screen
Saver." How do I install the photos to work with the
screen saver?

Thank you.

There are several free and shareware utilities which allow you to
create a screen saver from your pictures.

E.g., the freeware ImageForge image program has a tool to do make a
slideshow screen saver from your photos or images. The download is at
http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_imffw.html To do screensavers in Image
Forge...

1- go to its "Tools" menu and then to "Create Album or Slide Show"

2- on the "Image Files" tab, click the + button to add your pictures

3- also on the "Image Files" tab, there is a check box to turn your
slide show into a screen saver

4- go to the "Viewer" tab to give a file name for the screen saver
(this should end in the letters ".SCR" - without the quote marks)

5- go to the "Slide Show" tab to add animated effects and sound if you
want.

Once you generate the screen saver's .SCR file, just copy it to your
"C:\Windows\System32" folder so that you can select your new screen
saver from the list in Windows' Control Panel/Display.
