My Pictures Folder

Sarah

Good morning,

My Pictures folder, and some of its sub-folders, appear to be mildly
corrupted. They have the "My Music" folder attributes, including the
music-associated sorting criteria and other properties, instead of the
"Pictures" properties.

I'm wondering if I should just delete it and, if so, will it automatically
be recreated correctly? Or, is there a way to modify it without deleting?

Any help/guidance is very much appreciated.

Thank you,
Sarah

It may be caused by an incorrect value in the store that Windows uses to 'remember' all folder personalizations/types. It is hard to pinpoint the exact value and correct it, so we'll go to delete the whole store so that Windows recreates it.

Note: The following procedure will clear all folder personalizations you have made.

Open Start, Run, type without the quotation marks 'regedit' and click OK. Delete these keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags. Close Registry Editor. Open Start, Run, type without the quotation marks 'regsvr32 mydocs.dll' and click OK. Open Start, Run, type without quotes 'rundll32 mydocs.dll,PerUserInit' (better copy&paste, it's case sensitive) and click OK (this last step is courtesy of Ramesh MVP).

Open My Pictures folder again and see the results.

And if you don't want to touch the registry open Start, Run, type (without quotes) 'control folders', click OK, select the View tab, click Reset All Folders, select Yes and re-open Explorer.

Thank you, Daniel, so much. I'm not unfamiliar with the registry, so I can
do option 1 with no trouble. Is there any difference in the end result
between the two methods?
