My Pics - eliminated iconing ?

How can I change the My Pictures folder (and the process of saving
photos in misc programs) from defaulting to the icon view of whatever
folder it is opening?

In other words, when I go in to save a file and the program has
defaulted to My Pictures, it has the dumb-ya-down graphical folder
pics instead of what I have setup everywhere else: "details" view for
folders.

I know how to change it on the fly, but I'd like to stop it all
together.

THanks,

THanks,

My Pictures is a unique folder so you aren't given the option. But in
any sub-folder, right-click the folder, click Properties, Customize tab,
change to Documents (for any filetype).

If you want to make My Pictures folder behave like every other folder, then
just delete it and make a new folder in its place and call it My Pictures.
Remember to remove your photos before deleting, I'm unsure if you can get
the default My Pictures folder back if you want to change your mind.

I am not getting that behaviour. In Folder Options I have: Use Windows
classic folders, Open in same window, "Details" Applied to all folders on
the View tab and Remember each folder's view setting. These are all I think
can be relevant.

Thanks Ernie. I have most of what you have set but don't have the
"remember each folder" settings checked because set because I want all
the folders to use the same standard set of settings (not remember
what I did with that specific folder the last time I used it). If I
understand that option correctly, it will cause every folder to
remember the exact settings from the last time I used it. I prefer a
"standard default".

Sorry +Bob+, I just tried saving a file in Paint and it is as you said. I
thought your view in Explorer was defaulting to Icons.

I don't know how to change it.
