My password did not work. How to Boot from CD drive?

I am the administrator. I tried to sign into my computer this afternoon. It
said wrong user and password, to insert a disc or USB flash drive thing.
Could I have a virus or does vista sometimes do this? It gave me the correct
password hint, but wouldn't accept it. I tried about 10 times. Finally, after
putting a recovery disc in it let me sign in. I was using the correct
password. Can you people tell me how to boot from a CD drive and why it would
not accept my password? I am only user on this laptop. Thanks very much

Did you use the Vista CD to recover your system or the Password Reset disk
to reset your password. (Not clear to me).
If you did not use a password reset disk, now is the time to create one and
put it aside in some special place. It will allow you to get into your
account if something happens to your password.

As for why the password went bloie, pretty hard to find out, if there were
any other users on the machine that would provide a possible avenue. Any
user with administrator rights or a password for an account with
administrator rights could have changed your password.

You could look in the Event Viewer for clues but that may take some digging
to find the necessary log group.

If you wish to boot from the CD drive you must make changes in the BIOS.
When you powerup you should see something about setup (press F2, ESC etc).
Somewhere in the BIOS setup will be a list of bootable devices and the order
they will be tried. Make sure that the CD drive is enabled and first in the
list. After you have done whatever you are attempting to do with booting
from the CD, go back and set it back to boot first from the hard drive (C:)
