My old hard drive "it's not accesseble -"

Greetings !
I'm searching for help. I have attached my old winxp C:\ drive
as E: to my new configured setup hoping to transfer my old
Documents and files to my new setup. BUT it's not accessible -
I'm told. I've changed the Folders option from read only making it
accessible to read but then I'm told that an error occurred there.
I'd appreciate any help in this matter. TIA
