My network places

Hi,

In Windows explorer, for some groups "my network places" is hidden. Does
anybody know where to find this feature in Group Policy?
I found "computer near me" and "entire network" but not "my network places"

btw in applications such as MS Word, "my network places" is visible.

Who can help me?

Thanks

I am not sure if this is help but there is a setting to hide it in user
configuration/administrative templates/desktop that you may want to
configure. The gpresult tool can help track down user configuration Group
Policy settings and the /v switch will give registry settings though not
always in an easily understandable format. --- Steve

Thanx, Steven.
Indeed, that's the case. When "hide my networkplaces on desktop" is diabled,
it appears in explorer.
But before I changed the setting, it was not configured anywhere, just like
the OU's.Why isn't it hidden there???

FYI In a policy which is not linked anymore, I enabled "hide my
networkplaces on desktop". I can't imagine that it has anything to with this
case.

When using gpresult /v or gpresult /z, I just see a black dos screen which
dissapears again.

It is very hard to tell what is going on without more info from gpresult.
Gpresult is not installed by default. It is installed as part of support
tools and then needs to be run from the folder where it is installed to or
the while path is given in the executable name. Support tools are on the
install disk in the support/tools folder where you install them by running
the setup there to install them as a set. I would not thing that an unlinked
Group Policy could apply to a user or computer unless it did at one time and
the user/computer has not updated to current Group Policy configuration
since the policy was unlinked. --- Steve

Try running gpresult from a command line (Start>Run>cmd).

I would say, GP is updated on every login.
