My Network Icon is Missing!

I can't find my LAN Connection Icon neither on my system try, nor through
Control Panel. The thing is that i can't do no changes on Ip addresses or
anything else related to networking. I've tried uninstalling and installing
the latest drivers for my NIC (Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet),
but that didn't work either. All these problems came after i've intalled the
SP2 (and I'haven't saved any restore point that I can go back to).
I'dont know if there is any possibility of changing IP Addresses throug
Command Promt.
On the Device Manager is saying "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
Please if you can help on that, I'vould be very thankful.

WinKey + Pause Break > Hardware tab > device manager > remove networking
devices and let it re-install the drivers? Does that work? It could have
burnt out at the same time but that's too much of a coincidence. I'd just
delete them and let the OS re-install. When you installed SP2 were you 99%
sure that you were virus free?

No mate, as I mentioned earlier I've tried several times installing und
uninstalling drivers and let windows install it'self, maybe the importance in
all that is to metion that, even when I uninstall drivers I still can use
Internet.
Thnx anyway

Hey Cini,

I experienced the same problem on Apr. 19 and 6 hours total on the phone
with MS technical support, 20 OS reinstallations, massive system tweaking,
updated drivers, updated BIOS and generous amounts of cussing have not
helped. It was also during a SP2 installation that my network adapters
went on permanent hiatus.

I have just about exhausted all of the means I have at my disposal to fix
the problem, but I do have one more trick left that I am applying right now
and if it works I'll get back to you and let you know how to fix the
problem.
