Unfortunately, you haven't included any useful information in your post,
so you can't get a specific answer. Go here to get help in making a
good post:

Then do come back and repost with all necessary details. There are lots
of people reading this newsgroup who want to help you (like me), but
you have to give us something with which to work.

Or it might not be the mouse at all. Lots of end users will think there
is something wrong with their mouse when it is really Windows having
locked up. Unfortunately, Jenka has been Enigmatic and unless s/he
comes back with more details, we'll never know.

Sorry all...not used to this set up yet.
When I am in a program(any) the mouse suddenly freezes and no keyboard
functions work. The only way I know to get out of this situation is to close
the computer down manually and restart.Sometimes this happens once per day
other times four or five times.I use a Mercury Optical Scroll Mouse.

It doesn't sound like a mouse issue, it sounds like the computer is locking
up. take a look in the Event Viewer and see if there are any issues at the
time that your lockups are occurring.

If not, it may be a hardware problem, like something overheating, for
instance, so that the computer locks before anything can be written to the
log.

It could also be software related, but without a few more clues, there is
little advice that can be given.

Since the keyboard freezes as well, it's not likely that the problem has
anything to do with your mouse.

First check for parasites. See this site for more information and links to
free utilities:

http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

Then if it's not working correctly after cleaning up parasites, I suggest
using the Msconfig utility to prevent the loading of the Startup items for
troubleshooting:

I had two problems.

I was getting blue screen warning messages

And I was getting a frozen mouse

I tried several remedies from Dell support, nothing corrected it.

I removed Netscape and it has never done it since.
