My laptop running Vista business cannot see my XP desktop

Hi again Chuck,

Thanks again for all your help. The guest account was indeed turned off on
Aristotle and I have now turned off PPS. I can now see Descartes from
Aristotle and vice versa. However, the network map still does not display
properly with both Descartes and the print sever I installed recently showing
off the map. I also still cannot connect to the printer whether its attached
to Descartes or the print server (I tried both). The browstat results are:

Chuck thanks again. Descartes was already using simple file sharing but the
guest account was turned off. I have turned it back on. Aristotle has
password protected sharig turned on. I've tried to turn it off but I can't.
When I click the radio button to turn off password protected sharing and
click apply, it still shows passowrd protected sharing as on.

Chris,

Disabling PPS in Vista requires an active Guest account for sharing. Is Guest
activated for network access, on Aristotle?

The Network Map doesn't use the browser, it uses LLTD. You need the LLTD
Responder on any XP computer.

Hi Chuck,

Success at last! Thank you so much for persevering with this problem. Your
help has been invaluable. I would never have guessed it was going to be such
a complex problem. I have a colleague who has the same problems so I'm now
going to pass all this on to him so he can get his problems fixed as well.

Best regards

Chris

All right, Chris! It wasn't really a complex problem, just a series of simple
problems compounded. Congrats on sticking with it.
