My input mask applied to zip code field is ignored in mail merge

I'm trying to do a mail merge from an access database to a MS word doc &
everything is working except that my 9-digit zip codes are not displaying the
hyphen. I know how to correct the problem in the label wizard but not for
this mail merge. Can anyone help?

When you went throught the input mask wizard, did you select the option to
save the data with the symbols in the mask or without the symbols in the
mask? If the layout in the Input Mask line is 00000-9999;;_, then the data
is saved without the hyphen in the actual data.
