My firewall keeps turning itself off

I am frequently getting a pop-up which says that my computer security may be
at risk because of no firewall. It tells me I can correct the problem by
clicking the balloon, which I do. Then when I check the security settings, it
shows that the Firewall is set to on. Then, the pop-up comes again (sometime
later) with the same message. When I go directly to the Security window, sure
enough, the firewall is turned off. I have had this problem since I
uninstalled Norton Security, which had provided the irewall. My current
Anti-virus service does not provide a firewall so am using what comes with
Microsoft Windows XP. Why is my Firewall turning itself off and what may I do
to keep this from happening.

Your Norton Internet Secutiry would probably have turned off your Windows
firewall.

One way to fix this problem might be to reinstall Norton and uncheck the
option "turn off Windows Firewall" provided there,so that, you enable that
and then uninstall Norton if u think that you don't need it furthermore.

If this doesn't work, please check with others.

You have to find a tool on Symantec's homepage to be able to completly remove
your Symantec programs. There are several tools you can use depending on what
program you will remove from the computer. symClean is the name of one of the
most used tools and can be downloaded from Symantec's homepage. Otherwise you
can search Symantec's site for 'uninstall System Works' or 'uninstal Norton
Internet Security' for example to get hit on right tool for your application.
