My emails are going through as attachments to aol.com email addres

I have MS Outlook 2003 with MS Word 2003 as my email editor. All of my
recipients receive my emails including attachments except those who have an
aol.com email address. Those recipients receive the email in a WINMAIL.DAT
file and consequently, they can't open the file. Is there something on my end
I should do?
Thanks!

Change your default message format from RTF to either Plain Text or HTML.
RTF is only understood by Outlook; all other email clients will either get a
WINMAIL.DAT attachment, or no attachment at all.
