My Dialup and Local LAN connection

Jason

Hi,

I am having a problem with my LAN setup.

I quite often connect my home laptop and work laptop using a crossover
cable and give them both Ip addresses like 192.168.10.1 and
192.168.10.2. The subnet is 255.255.255.0.

This works fine (sort of).

However if I dialup to my work I can not resolve any addresses.

The work dialip will assign an address like 10.109.62.17 on subnet
255.255.255.255

I can not ping or get to any addresses on the internal network or
internet via my dialup connection.

Any ideas why this is happening or how to fix it.

Note - this isn't a problem about using 1 computer as an internet
gateway/sharing.

Thanks

Jason,

which version of Windows XP do you use? Which service pack is
installed, if any? The firewall may get in the way.

Have you asked your network administrator at work?
