I am running a desktop comp Compact, runnig with Windows XP pro, the screen
suddenly got black, and I am unable to bring it back to normal. I turn off
the power bttom by pressing on it, and when I tun it on, what I can only see
in the prompt blinking, no cds are within the cd slot. The recovery disc does
not appear to run.
Please, give me a detail step to revert my computer.

Didn't you write earlier this week? It sounds like your computer has
suffered hardware failure. If you can't troubleshoot this yourself -
and troubleshooting hardware failures on laptops isn't as easy as on
desktops - contact Compaq tech support.

If your computer does not show the post screen or the manufacturer's
logo when rebooted it is a great possibility that your computer BIOS
crashed...Contimually starting and stopping the computer by the power
button is not a good thing and should only be done as an emergency
situation.

Have you tried to enter the bios set up at all by toggling the various
keys as soon as you reboot?

Del key on most computers
F2 on some older modle dells and gateways and HP's
F10,11. 12 or any other specified key on some newer dells.

And if it is POSTing then try toggling F8 to enter safemode
